PARTS OF SPEECH
There are 8 parts of speech, those are
- Noun
- Pronoun
- Adjective
- Verb
- Adverb
- Preposition
- Conjunction
- Interjection
Noun :
names of persons, places, things, animals are called "nouns"
ex:- Ramu, Rama, Rocket... etc
Nouns are again divided into 5 kinds those are
a.proper noun
b. common noun
c. collective noun
d. material noun
e. abstract noun
proper noun :
Particular names or persons treated as Proper noun
ex: Ramu, Sai... etc
Common noun :
A name is used to express a whole class
ex: boy, Girl..etc
Collective Noun:
A name of group is called collective noun
ex; family, mob, fleet...etc
Material Noun:
names of materials, liquids and uncountables are called material noun
ex: Gold, Silver, water....etc
Abstract noun :
A noun which is formed from a verb or adjective or another common noun is called an abstract noun
ex: growth, knowledge....etc
Pronoun:
A word which is used instead of noun is called "pronoun"
Ex:
subjective pronoun : I,we ...etc
Objective pronoun: me, us, you....etc
Possessive pronoun : my, your, our ... etc
Accusative pronouns: mine,ours, yours....etc
Reflexive pronoun: myself, yourself, himself....etc
Adjective:
A word which express the quantity, quality, color, number of noun or pronoun is called an adjective
ex: Good, bad, one, two....etc
Verb:
All the actions are treated as verbs. these followed by subject part
Ex: write, speak, is,am.....etc
Adverb:
A word which modifies a verb or an adjective or another adverb
ex: here, there, lonely.....etc
Preposition:
A word which shows the relation between subject and object or among other word in a sentence is called a preposition.
ex: in, at, for, between,besides....etc
Conjunction:
A word which comes between two words or two sentences is called a conjunction
Ex: rama and ramu are teachers
here and is a conjunction
if you go fast, you will catch the train
here if is conjunction
Interjection:
A word which is express the sudden feelings of a person such as fear, happy, sorrow, surprise ... etc is called interjection
Ex: Oh!, Alas!, Hurrah! ....etc
These parts of speech plays a vital role in English grammar. In addition verb has three forms those are simple present, simple past, past participle. and for Adjective also has three forms those are positive degree, comparative degree, superlative degree.
