PAST TENSE NEGATIVE
Past tense negative is the meaning of "no"in sentences. this should contain not to get meaning negatively.
1. simple past negative
structure : subject+ did + not + verb 1 + other words
Normally simple past contains the verb 2 form but here negative tense form of simple past come with verb 1 because
did + verb 1 = verb 2
when did word come out from the verb 2 then we must write verb 1 only
for example,
she did not give money yesterday
he did not take leave two days ago
2. Past continuous tense
structure : subject + was / were + not + v1 + ing + other words
Normally past continuous tense contains verb 1+ ing here the negative past continuous comes with the not + v1+ ing.
for example,
I was not going to market yesterday at 10 Am
He was not doing homework yesterday morning
3. Past perfect tense
structure : subject + had + not + verb 3+ other words
Normally Past perfect tense Had + verb 3 but in the negative form contains not after the had helping verb.
for example,
I had not written homework before he returned
When we reached station, the train had left
4. Past perfect continuous tense:
structure : subject + had + not + been + verb 1 + ing + other words
In this tense we use not for getting negative meaning in the sentence.
for example,
I had not been playing cricket
He hadn't been working all day so he tired
