National Multidimensional Poverty Index(MPI)
Multidimensional Property Index(MPI) has been released by NITI Aayog, this is first report of MPI from NITI Aayog. Main Dimensions are Education, Health and Standard of Living. National MPI used Oxford versity and UNDP methodology. This report is made on the 2015-16 National Family health survey measures.
In this top 3 highly facing poverty states are,
1. Bihar
In Bihar, More than half of the population is facing poverty. that is 51.91%.
2. Jharkhand
In Jharkhand, 42.16% of population is facing poverty.
3. Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh, 37.79% of population is facing poverty.
At 4th place with 36.65% Madhya Pradesh and followed by Meghalaya with 32.67%.
In Other Side less poverty percentage states are,
1. Kerala
Kerala has 0.71% poverty percentage
2. Goa
Goa has 3.76% poverty percentage
3. Sikkim
Sikkim has 3.82% poverty percentage
Followed by Tamil Nadu with 4.89% and next Punjab with 5.59%.
In Union Territory, the following Union Territories have high percentage poverty percentage
1. Dadra Nagar Haveli - 27.36%
2. Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh - 12.58%
3. Daman Diu - 6.82%
4. Chandigarh - 5.97%
With lowest poverty percentage Union Territories are,
1. Puducherry - 1.72%
2. Lakshadweep - 1.82%
3. Andaman Nicobar Islands - 4.30%
4. Delhi - 4.79%
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana occupied 20th place and 18th place with 12.31% and 13.74% in National Multidimensional Index.
